Our Story
Although Planting Hope Ministries was established in August 2024, this God sized vision began years early.
God placed Hawaii Island in Gabe and Kellys hearts. They had never been to the Big Island, but felt an unexplainable draw. As they prayed through it, they felt the Lord place a God-sized vision on their hearts to be missionaries in Hawaii and as they prayed for a first step they both felt strongly to start by building and developing a multifaceted self-sufficient Bible camp for kids with an emphasis on partnering with the local church to build Safe homes for trafficked victims through out Hawaii. With over 2 decades of ministry experience, education in various trade skills, and a heart for missions, Gabe and Kelly had a heart to see people given new opportunities to grow both practically and spiritually. “We see a culture that is loving people to to their demise and we believe that love combined with clear accountability can create safe boundaries where people can learn to not just survive, but begin to thrive. We want to love people the way the Jesus loved. Jesus sat around tables, and spent time with the “outcasts.” He didn’t require perfection, but rather He came to redeem the imperfect(all of us) and offer grace for our shortcomings. He taught us how to walk in community, sharing each others burdens, and providing grace as we grow in our relationship with Him.”
In 2023, through a chain of events that could only be described as God appointments, they were connected with Rev. Thomas Stamman, founder of Impact Ministries International(IMI). IMI had 25 acres of Agriculture land on the Big Island(a blank piece of property without a house, water, or electricity, previously used as pasture for cattle). They shared what God had been laying on their hearts, and IMI invited them to move onto the property and partner with them to begin building a bible camp on the property. After MUCH prayer the Neufeld family took a step of faith and moved and began laying the foundation of a home. August 2024 Planting Hope Ministries was founded, a tool to accomplish the vision God had given Gabe and Kelly by allowing others to financially partner with them and to communicate what God is doing in Hawaii.
Our Team
Gabe, co-founder of Planting Hope Ministries, grew up in a small farming community in northern Minnesota. He has worked over 20 years as a second generation contractor running a successful contracting business both in MN and HI. He has a 3 year bible training certificate with a focus on youth ministry and is an ordained minister through IMI. He loves people, and is passionate about sharing Jesus love wherever he goes.
Kelly, co-founder of Planting Hope Ministries, grew up in Minneapolis, MN. Growing up on a missional college, she felt a strong calling to share Jesus with those around her. She has had over two decades of experience with volunteer work in the non-profit world, and has had over a decade of experience as an entrepreneur. She loves worship and is passionate about connecting with people and seeing them fulfill their God-given potential.
